Jörge de Sousa Noronha

Jörge de Sousa Noronha was born in Lisbon in 1936. He’s living in France since 1961. The lithography workshop began in 1977, when he opened the first studio in Bergerac (Dordogne). During this periode Jörge produced his own art work, as well as teaching and working collaboratively with artists he invited to the studio. Jörge states: “the teaching environment which resulted as artists began to produce their own works and find solutions to their needs was for me the best form of  apprenticeship and provided great personal enrichment”.

In 1986 Jörge retourned to Paris to relocate the studio, and Point & Marge is born. He believes that that it is necessary that the teaching of lithography and etching, as well as photography and images’ new technologies (which has occupied him for number of years), should continue so that in the future there can be a revival of these activities in printmaking.

At present the studi offoers training courses in lithography at different levels (drawing techniques and printig), in collaboration in with the studios of Le Moulin du Got, near Limoges.
Jörge de Sousa Noronha edited several technical and historical books on printmaking art, as La lithographie, précis technique, L’estampe, de la gravure à l’impression, La mémoire lithographique and L’estampe, objet rare (for details and other texts look at Bibliography in the summary).
